Canyonlands Island in the Sky and Dead Horse Point

Island in the Sky is a 45 minute drive from town, then a paved loop with short walks to Mesa Arch, Grand View Point and Green River Overlook. Add Dead Horse Point State Park on the way back for $20 a vehicle and you have a full, unhurried half day of the biggest views in the region with very little walking.

Get on the water

Half day raft trips on the Colorado leave in the morning and again in the early afternoon, run mild whitewater suitable for families, and are the coolest place to be in July and August. Jet boat trips run shorter still.
